So D and I were at the Tran's house with Gabe, Andy, and Stephanie when we got a call from Jason. Apparently, the Fall Out Boy concert that he went to with the other Stephanie and her little sister was a bust.
Before even making it into the concert, the girls had each received two misdemeanors and of course he had three. Probably because Stephanie's sister is 15!! I would never bring a 15 year old with me to snack on jello shots when tailgating.
Either way, good thing D and I didn't decide to go! I can't forget I'm stil underage ;)

With a sense of poise and rationality
Went to the Pistons vs. Bulls game a few weeks ago (where everyone boo'ed every time Ben touched the ball) - hands down, the loudest game I've ever been to! We won by a 2 pointer Webber shot in the last 2.2 seconds:

When I really think about not going anywhere for spring break, it's okay because I tell myselfI'll just wait until I've graduated and have a job. Then I will have to money to really enjoy myself, take a good two weeks without having to worry about coming back to school, I'll be old enough to go to Vegas to gamble and drink if I want to, I'll be able to spend a little extra money to upgrade to a nicer hotel... you know. Stuff like that. I ended up working most of the week but I did get to do 3 really cool things together since I had more time:
1. Ricardo hosted the annual Casino Night last Saturday. Since our company is small enough to have these little outings, they invited all the employees plus one guest to this banquet hall where there was catered food, a chocolate fountain with fruits and pastries for dessert, casino dealers, and a deejay for music. And yes, all those chips sitting in front of me are mine! Of the 9 people at out table, I wiped out most of them :) Until the last hand where I matched the last person left all in because I realized my funny money was not enough to win the grand prize.
And to keep it going, D had some buddies and me over for euchre and more poker:

2. D's Aunt Martha wanted to get rid of one of her aquariums. He and I spend literally a day and a half taking apart, taking down, cleaning, and re-setting up the 40 gallon aquarium at his apartment. I am jealous - it has such gorgeous fish! They are mostly cichlids - two orange, one dark yellow, and two blue striped - but he also has a plecost*mos catfish (D says it's bad luck to spell out the whole name), a clown loach, an upside down fish that actually swims upside down, and a fish called a Daffodil, like the flower. We bought this great looking castle with lots of places for the fish to hide in because they are very territorial. It was hard though because they swim fast. Oh and there are 4 giant zebra danios as mediators but really, they just steal all the food.

3. I got my hair highlighted. I haven't done that in a few years since it's pretty pricey! But I also needed a haircut bad so I got it all done at once.
After a month and a half of this on going thing, things with my mom are finally getting better. We talked about random things for like an hour yesterday while playing with the puppy. She was asking "how are things at work" and "how are things at school". Turns out, she was talking to a friend at work and decided she might want to start a blog or something so I was showing her one of the blogs I made about the pup.
Back tracking a little bit, my female guppies have been having baby guppy fry (did I already mention that?) About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I actually sat down to watch my fish while I was on the phone with D and my 2 pregnant guppies looked really fat so I separated them into the floating trap tank. I called it - I told him on the phone "This one looks so pregnant, I bet you if I sit here for 5 minutes, it will burst" and sure enough, within half an hour, one of my pregnant guppies had 2 fry! Unfortunately, the other pregnant guppy ate the second guppy less than a minute after it was born, and I got to see that too (blehh).
Tonight, Justin came over and me, Tim, and Justin were watching my pregnant fish again. I moved them back to my floating trap tank since they are the largest I have seen since the last time I watched them have babies. It was pretty much a replay of the last time I saw the births. We watched for about half an hour and when I thought I saw two tiny eyes poking out, Tim whipped out the camcorder and we watched in awe. To make a long story short, we watched and taped for 8 minutes and in the end, we concluded that what came out of the pregnant guppy was either a deformed and dead baby or it was a really really large, strange looking piece of poo. I really do think it's a dead baby though, but we have it all on tape either way.

Pistons/Wizards game
I hope the Pistons pick it up a little! Like the loud guy who sat in front of us said, "Nazr - we didn't bring you here to miss these baskets!" A few pictures from the Pistons/Wizards game (yay, we won this one):

I loooove Thanksgiving parades! Two years ago, I went to a parade with Kyle, Karen, Drew, Danielle, and Ashley all bundled up with our blankets. We woke early for breakfast, got to Detroit, and grabbed a curb that was so close that we were talking to passer-bys in the parade and giving them high fives. Afterwards, I think we went to get coffee and then back home for naps (if I remember correctly we had all hung out the night before until real late too). I really want to go this year but it looks like I'll just be watching it on TV. Or as Josh suggests, on HDTV where the view is clearer, closer, not as cold, and you don't have to wake up really early to watch it. But I don't care, I mean, that's what make it a parade. =A$1+$A2 is in D1 and it is dragged to E1...
I've got the Dirty Dancing in Havana Nights blasting in my headphones and I can't stop bobbing my head/moving my feet in dancing steps.
The MIS exam about excel today went alright. I mean everything was pretty easy except one section about the $ sign. If you put a $ before a column or row's name when using in it a function, it locks the next character. The questions were like "if $A1+A2 is in D1 and you extend it to E1, what will happen?" and then we had like every combination possible like A$1+A2 and A1+$A2 and $A1+$A2 and A1+A$2 and $A$1+A2 and A1+$A$2 and so on. That section really killed me because I couldn't even picture it without the $ signs and I had to draw the question out on paper to even understand what it was asking.
In celebration for the end of midterms, I went to Beruit La Pita on my way to work to spoil myself with Garlic Dip (amaaazing), Chicken Shwarma, and Lentil Soup. I sat in this tiny little restaurant waiting for my food and thinking about one of the first intern lunches we all went out on together. That was one of our little places. Now, Brandon is back at Rose-Hulman and will probably be hired over Christmas when he graduates, Neil is getting married to Jess, Grant is back at MichTech graduating this year (he definitely doesn't want to return to Ricardo), Veronica is in the Americorp, Henry was hired into the company recently, Amanada is still floating around the area/company, and Pavan is working and taking classes part time at UofM. Me? I'm still doing what I've been doing for the last year and a half. Part time school and booking it to work in my free time. I kinda miss all the random drop bys by my desk by the other interns cuz there isn't really anyone to talk to anymore.
Anyway, the other day, D, me, and my mom took Romeo to this free puppy training informational seminar about housebreaking your puppy and about the different classes and services they offer. For about 15 minutes, they closed off the doorways, had all the humans sit down, and let all the puppies loose to play with each other. At first, my pup was shaking and whining when we were walking into the room because he was so nervous, but when all the puppies could play together (there was probably 10), it was soooo adorable! The puppies started sniffing each other's butts, chasing each other, and playfully pouncing on each other. There was this one little, white Havanese-Shih Tzu that was a cutie. He would run after the other puppies and then randomly plop down like a pillow and just sit there for a minute, and then he would jump back up and run after the other puppies again. My pup was smart :-P He would run after other puppies and when they would chase him, he would run and hide behind people's legs to catch his breath, and then jump back out again and continue running. So cute :)
What's on the agenda for this weekend? Sushi with D, Tom, and Alandra either Friday or Sunday evening, a bit of studying I've got to crack down on, and Enoch's wedding on Saturday.

New official NBA basketball
More panels, "moisture controlled", new size. This is neat: the moisture control supposedly spreads moisture across the ball evenly and evaporates it. As opposed to... soaking it like old balls? Here's what they're saying about it.
Ughh this picture of Ben. It just doesn't look right, I guess. Anyway, here's what Detroit is saying about Ben leaving and a little bit about what's gonna be new with the Pistons this season.

Pistons games we're going to:
Nov. 17th vs. Washington
Dec. 1st vs. New York
Dec. 31st vs. Phoenix
Jan. 17th vs. Utah
Feb. 25th vs. Chicago
Yessss I'm so pumped!
Ahh, did I tell you? When I went to Chicago last month, there was this huge billboard of Ben Wallace in a Bulls jersey on the side of the highway? I was like "whaaat?!" I used to think if there was any Piston who was iconic, he would be it. I guess not. Oh yeah and Bobby said that two of the Pistons live in Bellagio in Northville now. Weird huh?

Hey Chicago, what's going on?
Yesterday/Monday morning, I walked into work to my new cubicle which will soon have a royal blue hutch with shelves. Opened up my email to find an email about how Claude is sending me and Catherine to Chicago on business! He said he'd have just sent me but I'm not old enough to rent a car (you have to be 21 or maybe older).
A couple weeks ago, I went out to lunch with Veronica who struck me with "Oh I'm going to Chicago, FYI..." I'm like, "for... Ricardo?" and she's like, "yeah on a business trip," and I almost lost it.
Apparently Reggie found out there were two IT interns now at DTC and he wrote up a request to have one sent over to CTC. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is HA, Veronica, HA!
Went out to lunch with Tieara yesterday to BK. Their crispy chicken salads are actually real good. That and a Wendy's cup of chili and I'm set for life.
Romeo's potty training is coming a little better. I'm not sure if it's progress or coincidence because the only one who can get him to go potty outside is Dusan. Aside from that, he'll only potty outside in the morning when we wake up and take him out and he can't hold it anymore.
A couple nights ago, Romeo woke me up with his crying from the thunderstorms. Poor baby.
Well, now I'm at UofM-D on orientation registering for classes. Is 13 credits enough? I guess I'm staying at Ricardo during the school year so 13 should be enough. Right? I don't know, this thing is so weird. I had my schedule planned out on paper and when I entered it online, I was waitlisted for every class, resulting in having to redo my schedule.
Umm yeah, about Big Ben leaving Detroit? I'm not feeling that too well. If there's anyone I would have thought represented Detroit sports as an icon, he might have been my first pick. Next to Billups, of course, since he's my Pistons icon. Was it really about the money Ben?
Oh I almost forgot! I got my AP Psych scores back and guess how I did! I got a 5! I know all you Asians out there who took 5 APs each and got 5's on every test are laughing at me, but this is a big accomplishment for me.

Good times, good times indeed.
Before I talk about this weekend...
Today, Claude introduced me to Tracy who now works for John VanAlstyne who is the VP of Bus Dev and Marketing at Ricardo who I had an interview with about a month ago. You with me so far? I thought John had forgotten about the interview, even though it sounded promising when I had talked to him, but I guess he mentioned it to the rest of the department last week. Tracy schedule a meeting with me and John this Friday, and this SAE Trade Show is coming up and Ricardo has a booth and I guess that's something I'm going to be working on with Tracy starting towards the end of this week! And, it looks like I'm going to be a major part of Rinc US's starting newsletter :)
On Friday I went prom dress shopping with Colleen at Somerset after work. Unfortunately, of the two dresses I liked best, one was falling apart and the last size, the other had material so thin it was see through. Finally, we just gave up and went to the food court, and I ate the best salad I've had since the salad I had in New York last year. It's tossed the way a salad should be: the freshest ingredients (complete with meats and cheeses) with your favorite dressing tossed in a clean, large, bowl. Then the DVD of Seinfeld episodes (D burned for me) until I fell asleep.
Saturday was GLR first thing in the morning. D calls at 7 freakin' am, and of course that's nothing to him. And let me just say this. 548 won a Judges award for financial difficulties. I laugh because of all Detroit charter schools and all the teams Ford completely dropped, Northville - where everyone has expensive houses and cars - wins the Judges award for financial difficulties. Honestly guys, that's not something to brag about.
Highlights included:
Lunch with John and Kristin, Kevin, Nitin, Stephan, and D at one of GQ's (and Oprah's) Top 20 Burgers to Eat Before You Die: Sidetrack Bar and Grill. So 19 more and then I can die. The burger was not bad at all with its perfectly cooked meat and toasted bun, but what was better was the Cranberry Walnut Bread Pudding that Kristin and I split.
Marty, in his shorts (on the far right, bottom corner), and Lindsey (on the far left, bottom corner) reffing the game and doing the "YMCA" during a break. Everyone else on the field who isn't a ref is a mascot.
Sunday included a massive load of cleaning, saying goodbye to Tim, and spending good times with old robotics kids. Dinner at Red Robin, cruising in D's Cobra, music blasting, and balls blasting out of my RoboPong 2000. Brings me back to the old days which I wish I hadn't taken for granted. Oh yeah, here's his oh-so-sexy Cobra:
What else? Oh yeah, Miami beat the Cavaliers after a couple quarters of trying to catch up with the Cavaliers, and the Pistons are now 50-12 (first in Central) but Denver and San Antonio are just trailing behind!

Props to the Pistons for two straight wins against the Cavaliers!
Yesterday evening while I was watching King of Queens, D calls and to admit he's upset about his paper. Long story short, I know Pride and Prejudice like it's my job, and we stayed up late working on his paper. I honestly don't mind, I mean, I can think of a million occasions he's stayed up late to help me with something science or math related, and it's about time he asked for something in return!
Nothing much going on today except that I'm sitting here studying Psych and eating the fluffiest New York styled Sara Lee cheesecake (thinking about the gigantic $8.00 piece of Apple Carmel cheesecake my mother and I had last year in New York).
Oh wait, I almost forgot! Something pretty cool happened today. We made "ransom note" poems in Creative Writing where you cut and paste words/letters to form sentences, and Mr. Cislo said to the class that mine was the best he'd ever read. I can't remember the last time someone publicly announced something I've done as being "the best". I cut and paste a bunch of words (except the first line was stuck together), no plain letters, to write this strange poem I'm so proud of:
